The Summer Intensives at the Accademia dell’Arte are 4-week programs built to mentor and instruct each participant as they delve further into their own artistic vision and aesthetic and expand their performance skillset. With a focus on self-generated work, both the Physical Theatre and Dance intensives get to the heart of individual voice as well as the ensemble creative process. Participants will be introduced to dynamic training and new techniques that are paramount to the contemporary performer’s craft. The Summer Intensives also include space to stimulate inter-program dialogue and discussion on the topics of art as it relates to the current socio-political climate and challenging educational models. The Summer Intensives will feature one unique term of 4 weeks followed by an additional FIFTH WEEK (optional).
The “FIFTH WEEK” is an exciting opportunity to join the Accademia’s team for an intensive creative week of work. It is designed as an intensive creative week of work that builds upon the dynamism created during the summer intensive program. The primary goal of the Fifth Week is to explore the performative potential that emerges from the creative energy of the participants. The Fifth Week will give the participants the experience of first-hand involvement in a creative process working as partners side-by-side the ADA faculty and other guest artists in the field who will guide the process. In the end, under the guidance of core faculty member Sam McGehee, the creative efforts of all will culminate in a public performance in which the young artists can share their artistic expressions with an audience.
